Testing, One Two

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned the view I get from my bedroom this year. It isn’t quite as impressive as the views of Black Mountain Tower that I got last year in Canberra, but it is somewhat more interesting than I had last time I lived in Sheffield when I could only see our back garden. I’m at the front of the house this time, so I’m greeted by a row of houses, the top of some sort of town hall type building, and the most fascinating characters you’ve ever seen walking past.

As I type, an elderly chap with one of the most extravagant moustaches I have ever seen has just gone by. Earlier this morning, a younger guy was wandering aimlessly around presumably trying to find a house. Or he was scoping out houses to rob, I’m not sure yet. Then there are the local yoofs who we occasionally spy taking in some underage drinking out the back of the pub, and one fantastic pipe-smoker who appeared to have stepped straight out of an Arthur Conan-Doyle novel.

But that isn’t really the point of this blog – I wanted to mention my radio appearance last weekend and needed a bit of filler to make this look like a real post, and you know what, I think it’s worked.

There were early problems with being too far away from the mic, then I stumbled over a few words, and there was some dead air, but I think by the end it was going rather well. I’ll let you know when the podcast becomes available via twitter.

And if you are an international listener, we’d still love to hear from you!

Still think Black Mountain Tower is impressive, you should go for another year.
The Sheffield radio show could be the start of a new career, you even look like a proper DJ in the photo. Karl Pilkington started out on a small radio show & he ended up with a TV show.
Any chance I can get on that show to spread the good word of QPR over the Sheffield airways?
Keep an eye on those burglars, you should get a deer stalker to wear while you watch them, that would be better than pipe-man.
