Finally, I got round to it. There was some art round Ayers Rock in this style, so I thought I’d copy it using my own photographs. I’m really rather pleased! I’ve also sorted out my photos folder, so I might try to get a few more that I can ‘improve’.
I went to the Activities fair today – I’m officially a paid up member of SUMS – the Sheffield University Mathematics Society again, and will throw my name in for a few more, but the fair was far too mobbed to do anything of note. I picked up a copy of our free university paper and had a walk round the incredible students union instead.
After that, I was prepared enough to go find the Botanical Gardens to go and play with some squirrels. I was only halfway through a chapter of Bryson’s book before I suddenly noticed one bounding around the trees above me. Before too long, he was joined by a second and a third (sadly not together, they were all foraging seperately), before I eventually got one to settle down long enough to take some snaps. I am pleased.
When I redesign my site, I fully expects squirrels to feature heavily.

Excellent pose by the Sheffield squirrel. Competition for the Hyde Park, London squirrel. Whose pose is best? There’s only one way to find out….. FIGHT!!!
Well done on your photographic artwork. Very impressive.
Well done too on continuing with your SUMS. Hope you can show us the ‘all new’ students union next time we venture down to Sheffield. Enjoy summing…

That photo was worth waiting for, I feel like booking my ticket back to Oz having seen it. The Sheffield squirrel needs to keep his paws a bit higher, I’m sure the London one will get a good early punch in & win in the first round. Maybe they are fans of Bill Bryson, it seems to have attracted a few of them.
SUMS, that name must have been dreamt up over a few local beers.
